Shoreham:
A small community of Irish/Catholic families
settled at Stony Creek
in the 1860’s. The largest family was the Byrnes: a widow and her 7
adult children most of whom married and built their homes close by.
As families grew so did the need for a school and other basic services.
These were established in homes near the school and have remained in
similar locations for 120 years run by local people with a strong
commitment to the community.
